Finance

Each congregation of the United Reformed Church, is responsible for its mission and property as well as contributing to National Funds for maintaining the ministry of the whole church. e.g. training for new ministers, youth work, Council for World Mission and other things that help maintain the ministry of the U.R.C. At Revidge Fold we aim at being self-sufficient through direct giving in the Sunday collections. Whilst concentrating other fund raising events on financing other projects.

We need £50,000 per year to run the church and fulfil our mission purposes. Most of this given by members and friends.

Elders

Men and women are elected to work with the minister as ELDERS of the church. They guide the church in its mission, oversee the church`s life, and provide pastoral and prayer support to the congregation. Each elder serves for a period of time, before taking a year off this service.

Constitutional

Revidge Fold is part of the United Reformed Church in the U.K. The church is governed by its members on the understanding that "where two or three are gathered in My Name, I will be with them. " The United Reformed Church has no member who is more important than any other member. We take responsibility to look after each other as equals, and to be looked after and helped by our fellow members. Decisions which affect the whole church are taken at an Annual General Assembly, where a moderator is elected on an annual basis. This local church is governed by its members, the people in the congregation. Church Meetings are held four times a year to decide the policy, authorise expenditure and plan future events. The monthly work of running the church is carried out by the Elders who are elected by the membership. Any member may be ordained as an Elder. We have no other staff - every job of running the church we do for ourselves. So the church can only be as good as its members.

Mission

God has placed Revidge Fold Church in this place at this time.

To spread God`s word.

To spread God`s love.

To pray for and serve the community and each other.

To be a visible and clear presence of who we are and what we believe.

To be available, with open doors, to the whole community here and elsewhere in the world.
